The Oregon Water Resources Department has honored West Extension Irrigation District (WEID) with a water conservation award. WEID and The City of Hermiston are sharing the Tyler Hansell Agricultural Efficiency Award for their reclaimed water project, which sends the city’s wastewater into WEID’s irrigation canal.
“The Oregon Water Resources Department presents the Conservation Awards annually to individuals, groups, businesses and governments,” says OWRD Director Tom Byler. “This is meant to recognize their outstanding commitment to water conservation and responsible water management.”
Byler plans to present the awards later this fall.
