WEID will apply the aquatic herbicide Magnacide H© to its main canal on Wednesday, July 7 and Thursday, July 9.  The active ingredient is Acrolein.  Pond weed and algae are the targeted weeds in the canal.  The entire canal will be treated with this herbicide from Ramp Weir 2 (west of Powerline Road) to the end spill in Boardman.

The treatment schedule is as follows:

Upper Canal: Wednesday, July 7th: Ramp Weir 2 to the I-84 Siphon. Waters are considered “treated” from 6 am Wednesday to 3 am Thursday.

Boardman Canal: Thursday, July 8th: I-84 Siphon to end spill. Waters are considered “treated” from 6 am to 9 pm Thursday.

If you have any questions please call the office at 541-922-3814.

WEID is doing a dye study in our main canal today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday, July 6-7). We are doing the upper canal today and the Boardman canal on Wednesday. This is for a Time of Travel Study for our NPDES Permit. It has to be done once every 5 years.

The water is colored with blue dye that is for agricultural purposes. It is non-toxic and won’t harm plants or animals.
