Here are the target shut-off dates for the 2022 irrigation season. ALL DATES ARE WEATHER DEPENDENT. These are only target dates – not set in stone. Meaning: if the weather stays mild, the later dates will be accurate. If the weather turns freezing or rainy, shut off will be sooner.
Pump Stations (Main Canal and Irrigon): October 19 or 26
Main Canal: October 28 or sooner
Dates will be updated as we get closer.
Please check the Irrigon ICE page on FaceBook for any updates over the weekend, as this website is only updated during business hours.
9/23/22 – 4:30 pm – Crews will be in tomorrow (Saturday) to load the pump and take it to Kerns. We will get the pump installed as soon as we get it back.
9/23/22 – 3:20 pm – Crews have determined that the problem is internal to the pump. (This is different than the problem we had in July, which was an electrical problem). They are working on pulling the pump and getting it out to Kerns Brothers for repairs. While they are bringing a piece of equipment to town to lift the pump, they are also seeing if Kerns can pick it up; whichever is the quickest.
9/23/22 – 10:00 am – A call came in last night after hours about low/no flows from the Division Street Pump Station. Crews were on site this morning troubleshooting the problem. They have left for parts/supplies and will be back on site. I will update this post as I have more details.
West Extension Irrigation District will be applying the aquatic herbicide “Argos” (liquid chelated copper) in its main canal over 3 days::
Tuesday September 13 Boardman Canal (siphon to end)
Wednesday September 14 Upper Canal (Phase 1 Inlet (East of Power Line Road) to Division)
Thursday September 15 Middle Canal (Division to I-84)
Treatments will start at approximately 8 am and last for 6 hours. Argos targets algae and is applied at the rate of 1 ppm for a 6 hour set. This low rate of application means there are no holding restrictions on the water. This compares to the Copper Sulfate Crystals which are applied at a 5-6 ppm rate and have lengthy holding time.
The Relocation Canal will be treated with Copper Sulfate Crystals on Wednesday, September 14. There will be a holding time of 7 hours. The Division Street Pump Station will be down during the treatment, then turned back on Thursday, 9/15..

The new pump station at Lateral 15 in Boardman has been down most of the day. There was a problem with the screens. Crews are working on the repair now, and will stay tonight until it is complete. The glue will have to cure overnight, and the pump station will be restarted sometime tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!
