CANAL TREATMENT SCHEDULED

The West Extension Irrigation District will be applying copper sulfate to its main canal for the treatment of algae on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.  The canal will be presumed to have “treated water” from 7 am Wednesday until 4 pm Friday, September 6.

Please call the office if you have any questions at 541-922-3814.

IRRIGON OUTAGE

August 6, 2019, 10:00 am – District crews are working on a repair on the Irrigon Pressurized System. In order to isolate the repair, the following booster stations have been turned off: 7th Street, 6th Street, Columbia Lane.

We anticipate the water will be restored before the end of the day.

SYSTEM-WIDE OUTAGE

Due to power outages, all WEID systems are off today, Wednesday, July 24.

IRRIGON PRESSURE SYSTEM: All systems are down. Crews are working on some repairs this morning and will be trying to get everything back on this afternoon. If you have any repairs you need to do on your system, now is the time. You may water off schedule to get caught back up.

MAIN CANAL: The BOR pumps went off about 4:00 am this morning. All WEID pump stations also went off. At this time, we do not have an estimate from BOR when the pumps will go back on. The process then is to fill up the canal, THEN turn on the pump stations.

BOARDMAN CANAL ONLY – CHANGE OF TREATMENT

The Argos application scheduled for the Boardman canal on 7/18/19 has been cancelled.

Instead, WEID will be applying the aquatic herbicide Acrolein (Magnacide H) to the Boardman Canal on Thursday, July 18, 2019.  The canal will be presumed to have “treated water” from 7:00 am Thursday to 2:00 am on Friday, July 19.

Please contact the district office if you have any questions at 541-922-3814.

**UPDATE** CANAL TREATMENT SCHEDULED

UPDATE – DATE CHANGE FOR MIDDLE AND BOARDMAN

West Extension Irrigation District will be applying the aquatic herbicide “Argos” (chelated copper) in its main canal in 3 treatments:

  1. Upper Canal (Phase 1 Inlet to Division) – Wednesday July 17
  2. Middle Canal (Division to I-84) – FRIDAY JULY 19
  3. Boardman Canal (Siphon to end) – THURSDAY JULY 18

Treatments will start at approximately 7 am and last for 6 hours.

Argos targets algae and is applied at the rate of 1 ppm for a 6 hour set.  This low rate of application means there are no holding restrictions on the water.  This compares to the Copper Sulfate Crystals which are applied at a 5-6 ppm rate and have lengthy holding time.

Please call the office if you have any questions at 541-922-3814.
